On Mother's Day, I'll be thinking of 101-year-old Josephine who dedicated her life to caring for children.

The women we serve were born in the 1920s, 30s, and 40s – some even earlier. Now, they're both living and making history.

It’s that time of the year – when just standing outdoors can be too uncomfortable. Summer heat particularly affects the homebound elderly.

As Mother’s Day approaches, I think of Mamie – the first Citymeals recipient I met. She lived in the same Brooklyn neighborhood as my grandmother.
