Unique designs by local artists celebrate New York City’s most iconic scenes

November 8, 2022 (New York, NY) – This holiday season, Citymeals on Wheels continues its beloved annual holiday card program that helps fund the preparation and delivery of nourishing meals for homebound elderly New Yorkers. For more than 30 years, local artists have donated their time and talent by creating holiday card designs that support Citymeals’ mission and allow caring New Yorkers to give back with every card they send.

Citymeals’ holiday cards feature original designs of New York City’s most iconic and treasured holiday scenes. This year’s offerings include favorites from previous years and new designs including:

“Citymeals’ holiday cards reflect all that’s best about New York City, including our tradition of neighbors helping neighbors,” said Beth Shapiro, Executive Director of Citymeals on Wheels. “This holiday season, while many of us will be gathering with friends and family, our meal recipients will spend the holiday alone. Thanks to our many generous supporters, they’ll receive a knock on the door to remind them they are not forgotten and ensure they have a nourishing, festive meal.”

Each package contains five cards and costs $34 plus shipping and handling per order. Each card is printed on recycled materials and comes with a vellum insert that lets the recipient know a gift was made to Citymeals in their honor. As always, 100% of proceeds will be used to provide home-delivered meals to vulnerable older New Yorkers. For more information visit: citymeals.org/holidaycards.

About Citymeals on Wheels

Citymeals on Wheels (citymeals.org) provides a continuous lifeline of nourishing meals and vital companionship to nearly 20,000 homebound elderly New Yorkers. Working in partnership with community-based organizations and senior centers, Citymeals prepared and delivered nearly 2 million weekend, holiday, and emergency meals last year. Last year, nearly 19,000 volunteers gave more than 52,000 hours of time to Citymeals’ mission.

Since its founding in 1981, Citymeals has relied on the generosity of its Board of Directors, the City of New York, sponsors, and other designated gifts to cover administrative costs. This ensures that 100% of all public donations will be used entirely for the preparation and delivery of meals.
