About Citymeals:
Citymeals on Wheels provides a continuous lifeline of meals and connection to older New Yorkers in need. Since our founding, we have delivered more than 72 million meals. As we enter our 45th year, we are committed to ending elder hunger in New York City by 2040.
About the Role:
The Citymeals Policy team works to increase public investment in home-delivered meal programs in New York City and State and advocates for the expansion and modernization of public food programs that address the diverse needs of older adults. We partner with aging services providers, food pantries, and other coalition members with the goal of building a city where we can all age in our homes with the nutrition we need to thrive.
Citymeals is seeking a Policy and Advocacy Intern to conduct a research project focused on increasing food access among homebound older New Yorkers. The Policy Intern will work closely with the Policy and Programs teams to strengthen Citymeals’ work through grounding policy solutions in research and the lived experience of homebound older New Yorkers. They will be expected to conduct in-depth policy research, review and analyze legislation, regulations, and other policy documents, and develop materials as needed, including memos, research reports and summaries. Research will focus on public anti-hunger programs, aging services, and policies that address hunger among homebound older adults.
