Deliver More With Your Holiday Cards This Year

Every Holiday Card Ordered Through Citymeals on Wheels Funds the Preparation and Delivery of a Holiday Meal to a Homebound Elderly New Yorker In Need

(New York, NY) – Make a lifesaving gift to an older New Yorker in need this holiday season.

Deliver twice the holiday cheer this year by participating in the Citymeals on Wheels holiday card program. For every card you order, Citymeals will hand-deliver a delicious holiday meal to a frail aged New Yorker who will spend the holidays alone.

Choose from original designs by local artists who have donated their artwork to Citymeals. This year’s options include uniquely New York scenes like Bethesda Fountain by Anne Watkins; Skating at Rock Center by John Segal; New Year's Celebration by Shawne Cooper; and City Wishes by Robert D’Arconte. Favorites from years past are also available. All of the cards are designed exclusively for Citymeals, are printed on recycled materials and come with a vellum insert that lets the recipient know Citymeals will deliver a holiday meal in their honor.

Beth Shapiro, Executive Director of Citymeals on Wheels, noted, “Each time a family member or friend receives one of these beautiful and thoughtful cards, one of the vulnerable homebound elderly we serve will receive a nutritious, life-sustaining meal. I cannot think of a more meaningful way to give this holiday season. We offer our deepest gratitude to our generous and talented artists for sharing their gifts with us this year.”

For $37 – plus a $4 shipping and handling fee – Citymeals will send you five special cards. One hundred percent of the proceeds from all holiday card sales supports the preparation and delivery of meals to your frail aged neighbors. This means your order is fully tax-deductible. Orders of 100 or more cards can also be customized with your own message, name or corporate logo for an additional fee.  Allow three weeks for these special orders.

Over the last 27 years, Citymeals has raised nearly $14 million from its holiday cards initiative.

About Citymeals on Wheels: Citymeals on Wheels (citymeals.org) provides a continuous lifeline of nourishing meals and vital companionship to New York City’s homebound elderly. Working in partnership with community-based organizations and senior centers, Citymeals prepares and delivers over 2 million weekend, holiday and emergency meals for more than 18,000 of our frail aged neighbors each year. Last year, over 15,000 individuals volunteered nearly 72,000 hours of their time.

Since its founding in 1981, Citymeals has relied on the generosity of its Board of Directors, the City of New York, sponsors and other designated gifts to cover administrative costs. This ensures that 100% of all public donations will be used entirely for the preparation and delivery of meals.
