Holiday Meals

Holidays can be especially difficult for many of our meal recipients who live alone and are isolated. When senior centers must close, Citymeals provides festive hand-delivered holiday meals, reminding our older neighbors they haven’t been forgotten.

Before the pandemic, Citymeals hosted special celebrations at meal centers for those seniors able to leave their homes. For the safety of our recipients and staff, we are currently unable to provide older New Yorkers with the chance to enjoy a special meal and socialize with friends within their own communities.

Despite the challenges of the Covid-19 pandemic, Citymeals' volunteers delivered nearly 50,000 festive meals this past Thanksgiving and Christmas to ensure our homebound elderly recipients were well-nourished during a holiday season unlike any other.

Last year we provided 74,453 meals for Independence Day, Thanksgiving, Hanukkah, Christmas, New Year’s Day, Lunar New Year, and Mother’s Day.
