Our holiday boxes bring comfort and security, showing our recipients we will always be there when meal centers are closed for national and religious days of observance.
To prepare our older neighbors for long holiday weekends, Citymeals delivers packages containing ready-to-eat meals and healthy snacks. Our holiday boxes are delivered in advance of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, Presidents Day, Passover, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day and Indigenous Peoples' Day. Last year, we provided almost 156,000 holiday boxed meals.

While each holiday box typically includes three meals, for Passover we assemble packages filled with Kosher for Passover foods like gefilte fish, beef brisket, stuffed cabbage, matzo, macaroons and grape juice – the equivalent of eight meals.
During the Covid-19 pandemic, the city shut down just days before Passover. Many older people were unprepared and in need of holiday food. Citymeals quickly delivered an additional 36,000 Kosher for Passover meals to our older neighbors unable to get out to shop for traditional Seder items.
