CITYMEALS ON WHEELS DELIVERS KOSHER FOR PASSOVER MEAL PACKAGES TO HOMEBOUND ELDERLY AHEAD OF THE HOLIDAY

(March 30 – New York, NY) – With the Passover holiday beginning tonight, Citymeals on Wheels, the organization that provides a continuous lifeline of nourishing meals and vital companionship to frail aged New Yorkers, is delivering its special holiday meals to homebound elderly members of the Jewish community.

Citymeals recipients have outlived their family and friends, making the holidays especially isolating. In addition to providing them with appropriate and nourishing meals, these special holiday deliveries to remind frail aged New Yorkers they are not forgotten.

In the weeks leading up to Passover, 700 Citymeals volunteers will be delivering nearly 4,000 holiday boxes containing 32,000 Kosher for Passover meals across all boroughs of New York City. Each package contains the equivalent of eight meals and includes traditional Passover items such as chicken, turkey, beef goulash, beef brisket, stuffed cabbage, gefilte fish, apple juice, grape juice, matzo crackers and coconut macaroons.

Avrahm, a Citymeals recipient in Queens, wrote to thank Citymeals: “I want to express my sincere thanks to you for sending a very large Passover meals package. It was a great and unexpected surprise. I am deeply indebted to you since I am no longer able to travel to Manhattan or Brooklyn to purchase what is needed for Passover.”

Citymeals delivers special holiday packages throughout the year, including for Labor Day, Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, Presidents Day, Independence Day and Passover.
