Citymeals had a busy fall season of events to raise funds to provide thousands of meals to our homebound elderly neighbors.

Second Annual Oyster Social
On Sunday, September 22nd, Citymeals Board Member Chef Charlie Palmer hosted the Second Annual Oyster Social at his flagship restaurant, Aureole. Guests savored endless oysters, hors d'oeuvres, drinks and more in the restaurant's outdoor plaza while taking in the sounds of a local bluegrass band. Thanks to the generosity of Chef Palmer and Citymeals supporters, the event raised enough money to fund the preparation and delivery of more than 700 meals.

“The Art of John Lennon” Exhibit
Continuing the Lennon legacy of peace and love, Yoko Ono, Bag One Arts and Legacy Productions brought The Art of John Lennon back to New York City to honor his 73rd birthday on October 9th. The exhibit – which ran through October 14th – featured nearly 100 limited edition lithographs, serigraphs and copper etchings that John created from his youth in 1964 to his untimely death in 1980. In the spirit of John and Yoko’s generosity, proceeds from show provided over 2,500 meals to frail aged New Yorkers.

Rotisserie Georgette Opening Benefit
Georgette Farkas, Citymeals supporter and longtime New York City restaurateur, celebrated the launch of her Upper East Side restaurant – Rôtisserie Georgette – with a cocktail reception benefiting Citymeals. On October 28th, over 100 guests savored some of what this chic French-accented, rotisserie-themed restaurant has to offer. The event was attended by Citymeals Co-Founder Gael Greene; Co-President Anne Cohen; Board Members Aliyyah Baylor, John Pomerantz, Janet Rodgers, Janis Smith-Gomez, and Marcia Stein; and founding Citymeals Board Member Donald Tober among others. Ticket sales raised over $20,000 for Citymeals – enough to deliver more than 3,000 nutritious meals.

Young Professionals Committee Events – Bowl-A-Thon at Brooklyn Bowl and Happy Hour at HILO
The Citymeals Young Professionals Committee gathered on September 26th at Brooklyn Bowl. The group gathered for a night of bowling, beer, fried chicken and raffle prizes raising $1,900 for Citymeals. And just last week, the Young Professionals met at HILO Bar – BR Guest’s newest hotspot – for a happy hour where they raised $2,000. Together, our YPC events funded the delivery of more than 600 meals to frail aged New Yorkers.
