Citymeals’ 2019 Holiday Cards Deliver Joy and Nourishing Meals

Every Holiday Card Purchased Funds the Preparation and Delivery of Meals
to Frail Aged New Yorkers

Unique New York City Holiday Designs Created by Local Artists

October 29, 2019 (New York, NY) – This holiday season, Citymeals on Wheels continues its famous holiday card program, a longstanding fundraiser that for 30 years has helped fund home-delivered meals for the city’s homebound elderly. 100% of proceeds from card sales go directly to the preparation and delivery of meals for frail aged New Yorkers in need.

Since 1989, Citymeals has raised more than $15 million from its holiday cards to fund the delivery of meals to vulnerable New Yorkers across the five boroughs.

“Citymeals on Wheels is proud to continue our annual holiday card program, which embodies the spirit of the season and supports our mission to nourish our homebound elderly neighbors ,” said Beth Shapiro, Executive Director of Citymeals on Wheels. “Thanks to these generous and talented artists, who have donated their designs, you can send holiday cheer to friends, loved ones and business associates and know you are supporting a lifeline of meals and companionship for frail aged New Yorkers.”

The holiday cards program includes original designs and unique New York scenes crafted by local artists who have donated their artwork to Citymeals. This year, new designs include: Flatiron Flurries by Anne Watkins; Stars Over Manhattan by John Segal; A Winter’s Tail by Maira Kalman; and City Snow Globe by Robert D'Arconte.

Also, the new Anne Watkins Collection includes five of this popular artists’ designs. Since she made her debut in 2012, Anne Watkins’ cards have delivered nearly 70,000 meals. All of the cards are designed exclusively for Citymeals and are printed on recycled materials. Each card comes with a vellum insert that lets the recipient know a gift was made to Citymeals in their honor.

Each pack of five cards at a cost of $34, plus $4 shipping and handling per order, funds the delivery of a full box of nutritious food and special treats to your most vulnerable neighbors – just in time for the holidays.

The recommended deadline to receive orders by Christmas and Hanukkah is December 9. For more information, visit: citymeals.org/holidaycards.

ABOUT CITYMEALS ON WHEELS

Citymeals on Wheels (citymeals.org) provides a continuous lifeline of nourishing meals and vital companionship to New York City’s homebound elderly. Working in partnership with community-based organizations and senior centers, Citymeals prepares and delivers over 2 million weekend, holiday and emergency meals to more than 18,000 of our frail aged neighbors each year. Last year, more than 26,000 individuals volunteered over 90,000 hours of their time to Citymeals’ mission.

Since its founding in 1981, Citymeals has relied on the generosity of its Board of Directors, the City of New York, sponsors and other designated gifts to cover administrative costs. This ensures that 100% of all public donations will be used entirely for the preparation and delivery of meals.
