On Tuesday, July 23rd, Citymeals delivered Emergency Food Packages to 15 elderly East Harlem residents who have been without hot water and gas since a gas leak was detected more than a week ago.

Citymeals was notified on Monday afternoon and quickly coordinated an early morning delivery of boxes from our Brooklyn warehouse. Each twenty-one-pound Emergency Food Package contains twelve shelf-stable meals, including such items as tuna, salmon, rice, quinoa, applesauce, whole-grain breakfast cereal and juice.

The building manager described the situation as “horrendous” and expressed her gratitude for Citymeals’ assistance. “Citymeals has been very helpful in providing services for our residents in need during this dramatic situation,” she stated. “You’re doing a wonderful job for the community.”
