This spring, Citymeals partnered with the New York City Food Truck Association to create the Eat Like a New Yorker campaign. Between May 5th and May 9th, New Yorkers and tourists were asked to stop by a participating food truck – including DUB Pies, Kelvin Natural Slush, Mike ‘N Willie’s, Morris Truck, Red Hook Lobster, Shorty’s, Sweet Chili, Toum, The Treats Truck, and Uncle Gussy’s – take a photo and post it to Twitter or Instagram with the hashtag #EatLikeANYer. The Food Truck Association donated $1 to Citymeals every time the hashtag was used. Participating trucks also made donations to Citymeals, totaling $2,500 in contributions from the program.

“It was natural to partner with the Food Truck Association and ask food lovers to share their experiences,” Citymeals Executive Director Beth Shapiro explained. “The initiative raised critically needed money that will help keep our most vulnerable neighbors well fed and living safely in their own homes. We are grateful to Association President David Weber and all of the participating food trucks for their generosity. Their kindness will most certainly be felt by our meal recipients.”

President of the New York City Food Truck Association David Weber remarked, “The food truck frenzy swept New York City during the Eat Like a New Yorker campaign. We are proud to have helped Citymeals in their mission to provide meals to those most in need.”
