On November 20, 2012, Citymeals was invited to ring NASDAQ’s opening bell. Citymeals board members, office and warehouse staff joined Executive Director Beth Shapiro for the occasion at the NASDAQ MarketSite location in Times Square. In addition to being acknowledged for providing nourishment for frail aged New Yorkers throughout the year, Citymeals was also recognized for its emergency efforts during and after Hurricane Sandy. Shapiro stated, “It was an honor to be invited to ring NASDAQ’s opening bell and to be recognized for our response to Hurricane Sandy. Our dedicated warehouse staff worked for 21 days straight, sometimes working 15-20 hour days to ensure that our homebound elderly meal recipients wouldn’t be without food.”
We are able to promise that 100% of your donation will be used for the preparation and delivery of meals, thanks to our partnership with the City of New York, Citymeals board members and certain designated grants for administrative expenses.
