Indulge Your Sweet Tooth

This is a sweet month at Citymeals. Throughout September, over 40 restaurants, bakeries and sweet shops across New York City are supporting our mission by donating a portion of sales to Citymeals. Since its inception, our Sweet September initiative has raised nearly $60,000 to prepare and deliver more than 8,000 meals to frail aged New Yorkers!

Longtime Citymeals supporter Jacques Torres returns again this year to help his homebound elderly neighbors. Pick up a classic chocolate chip cookie at any Jacques Torres location and $0.25 from each will go to Citymeals. Once you're hooked, try Mr. Chocolate's own recipe for these all-time favorites.

If you're in Brooklyn, stop by Morgan's Brooklyn Barbecue and sink your fork into this perfect key lime pie. Each one will support home-delivered meals for older New Yorkers, thanks to Board Member Mathew Glazier.

Also in Brooklyn, Colonie is offering its sticky date cake with crème fraîche gelato throughout Sweet September. You can try your hand at their recipe for date and toffee cake, which highlights the unique sweetness of dates, topped with a luscious toffee sauce.

If you're at Citarella this September, take home one of their flaky crostatas filled with Citarella imported French preserves. Thanks to Board Member Yusi Gurrera, $1 of every sale supports Citymeals. Available in plum, rhubarb orange, apricot and strawberry cherry, it's a sweet addition to any celebration.

Board Member Chef Charlie Palmer's Aureole offers its valrhona caramélia mousse with milk chocolate puffed rice and malted ice cream and Charlie Palmer Steak presents its cheesecake pudding – you'll be supporting Citymeals' lifeline of nourishing meals.

Any way you slice it, this is a chance to eat well while doing good. Then satisfy your culinary cravings by signing up for Citymeals' Recipe of the Month to receive recipes from our culinary supporters all year long.
