Volunteer Group Profile: Street Project
Street Project has been volunteering with Citymeals-on-Wheels for over two years. The group delivers from Encore Senior Center on the third Saturday of each month.
Street Project was founded in 1987. The volunteer organization provides a variety of on-going and flexible opportunities for young and busy professionals to give back to their community, connect to a vibrant network of dedicated individuals and develop an overall philanthropic spirit. The majority of Street Project’s programs meet once a month on Saturdays or Sundays and do not require long-term commitments. Through Street Project programs, participants find fulfillment in donating their time to worthy causes, and develop a spirit of volunteerism and community responsibility that often last a lifetime. The projects focus on community needs including inner-city children’s programs, elderly care, home/school improvement projects, soup kitchen relief centers, education, and mentoring programs. Street Project is run entirely by volunteers and draws its volunteers from all walks of life; the majority are young professionals.
