Corporate and Community Groups

Citymeals offers volunteer opportunities to New York’s businesses and community groups who wish to participate in a volunteer project.

ABC Disney, Altria, American Express, Bloomberg, Citigroup, Columbia University, Kiwanis, Deloitte & Touche, Goldman Sachs, New York University, Standard Chartered Bank, UBS, and West Point Cadets are among the corporate and community groups volunteering their time.

Weekend Meal Delivery

As part of a team, volunteers work together to hand-deliver hot, nutritious meals to homebound seniors. Our meal recipients look forward to these meals and visits that brighten their day. The time commitment is Saturday mornings for two hours. A car is not needed.

Holiday Meal Package Deliveries

Volunteers deliver holiday meal packages to the homebound elderly. These packages provide extra meals for the seniors when their meal centers are closed for the holidays. Most deliveries are within walking distance of the meal centers; a few are a short train or bus ride away. The time commitment for deliveries is about two hours. A car is not needed.

Senior Chat

This program lets caring volunteers make contact with isolated, elderly individuals by phone. A phone call can help someone frail and alone feel safe and connected to the world. Each member of your team will call their senior friend every week. The time commitment is approximately a half hour per week for at least six months. A convenient time will be determined by both the volunteer and the older person. This activity can take place from the office or from home.

Senior Script

Every week, Citymeals receives many letters of appreciation from our elderly meal recipients. Many of these letters contain touching, heartfelt stories about their lives. Through this program, volunteers respond to our clients with warm personalized letters.
