Rolanda Pyle

I volunteered first with Senior Chat and I had three different seniors, one after the other. Two of them passed away, and one went into a nursing home. I started volunteering at Citymeals-on-Wheels in 2004. I wanted to do something to help others, and I love working with seniors. All three of my seniors were basically by themselves and needed someone to talk to, and I would call them weekly. One of the seniors had respiratory issues like I have, so I could really relate to some of her ailments. 

I then started working with the Senior Script. I love writing, and I began to write letters to homebound seniors. I have told many people about the opportunities at Citymeals-on-Wheels, and now my brother delivers meals in Manhattan. I also got the children's ministry in my church to make cards for homebound seniors for the holidays. They have done it a couple of times and are now working on other holidays. I have also volunteered at the office.
