weekend meal delivery
As part of a team, volunteers work together to hand-deliver hot, nutritious meals to homebound seniors. Our meal recipients look forward to these meals and visits that brighten their day. The time commitment is Monday through Sunday, for three hours in the mornings. A car is not needed.
This program lets caring volunteers make contact with isolated, elderly individuals by phone. A phone call can help someone frail and alone feel safe and connected to the world. Each member of your team will call his or her senior friend every week. The time commitment is approximately a half-hour per week for at least six months. A convenient time will be determined by both the volunteer and the older person. This activity can take place from the office or from home.
Every week, Citymeals receives many letters of appreciation from our elderly meal recipients. Many of these letters contain touching, heartfelt stories about their lives. Through this program, volunteers respond to our clients with warm, personalized letters.
