On Friday, more than 400 women – leaders in business, media, government, and the arts – gathered at The Plaza Hotel for our 27th Annual Power Lunch for Women. This by-invitation-only benefit, emceed by Katie Couric, raised $1.3 million – enough to provide more than 202,000 meals for New York City’s homebound elderly.
Honored for their compassion, philanthropy and longstanding support of Citymeals were Betsy Bernardaud, Executive Vice President of Bernardaud and Donald G. Tober, Chairman of Sugar Foods Corporation and founding Citymeals-on-Wheels Board Member. Cyndi Lauper, award-winning singer, songwriter and actress, performed her timeless hit, “Time After Time”, to a backdrop of images of Citymeals recipients.

A few adventurous men were allowed the privilege of lunching with these powerful women for an admission price of $10,000. One hundred percent of the money raised from ticket sales at Power Lunch will go toward the preparation and delivery of nutritious meals to frail aged New Yorkers.
