Chef Daniel Boulud Cooks up Support for Citymeals
Daniel Boulud, one of New York’s most celebrated chefs, is also one of Citymeals’ most loyal supporters.
For the past eleven years, Chef Daniel Boulud has celebrated every important event in the life of his New York restaurants with benefits for Citymeals-on-Wheels. In addition, on one Sunday evening each spring, at Restaurant DANIEL, the chef personally hosts an intimate gathering which has become the gourmand event of the season. Last year alone, 140 patrons and friends of Citymeals donned their best blue jeans and gathered at DANIEL for a night of gourmet dining in support of Citymeals. The “Black Truffles, Blue Jeans, Burgundy & Blues” gala, which included a cocktail reception, silent wine auction, live auction and seated dinner, raised nearly $500,000 for Citymeals – enough to provide more than 75,000 meals to the frail and homebound.
As an active member of the Citymeals’ Board of Directors, Chef Daniel uses every opportunity to raise both awareness and funds for New York’s homebound elderly. All ticket proceeds for the recent opening reception at his DBGB Kitchen & Bar benefited Citymeals. The same will be true for the January 2010 fête the chef is hosting at his new Bar Pleiades in the Surrey Hotel. He also participates in the annual Chefs’ Tribute to Citymeals-on-Wheels, an event that raises money to feed our frail, aged neighbors who are no longer able to care for themselves.
Chef Daniel is a true partner in providing meals to homebound elderly New Yorkers.
